INVITATION TO BID
CONTRACTORS ARE INVITED TO SUBMIT SEALED BIDS FOR THE BIDDING OF THE MUHLENBERG HIGH SCHOOL POOL STARTING BLOCK REPLACEMENT.
Sealed bids will be received by the Board of School Directors of the Muhlenberg School District for the work required to install new starting blocks at the Natatorium in Muhlenberg High School, 400 Sharp Avenue, Muhlenberg Township, Berks County, Pennsylvania. Bids must be received by 2:00 p.m., Tuesday, September 29, 2015 at the Business Office located in the Administration Office Building at 801 Bellevue Ave., Laureldale, PA 19605. Faxed bids will not be accepted. Bids will be publicly opened and read aloud at that time in the Administration Office Building. No award of the contract will be made at the bid opening.
The Work shall be performed under a single Prime Contract for General Construction by Qualified Contractors with Commercial Pool Construction experience. Bidders must meet qualification requirements as stated in the documents prepared for the project. The project includes repairs and modifications to the indoor swimming pool at Muhlenberg High School.
Bidders are encouraged to attend a Pre-Bid Conference scheduled for Wednesday, September 16, 2015 at 10:00 am at the Muhlenberg High School Natatorium. Purpose of the conference is to review the scope of work, contractor requirements, and project conditions with the Architect and the District’s Building and Grounds Coordinator.
Prime Contractors can obtain Contract Documents by contacting Muhlenberg Greene Architects, Ltd. by faxing a request to 610-376-0720 or email to firstname.lastname@example.org. A non-refundable fee of $25.00 is required for each paper document set, or $10 (non-refundable) fee for an electronic copy of bid documents on a CD. Checks are to be made payable to Muhlenberg Greene Architects, Ltd. Send checks to Muhlenberg Greene Architects, Ltd., 955 Berkshire Blvd, Suite 101, Wyomissing, PA 19610-1278 along with all pertinent bidder contact information, including company name, contact name, full address, telephone, fax, e-mail address. All addenda will be issued via email.
Bidder’s proposals must be accompanied by a certified check, certified bank treasurer’s check, bank cashier’s check, or bid bond on the form included with the bidding documents or AIA 310 Bid Bond issued by the Surety Company. A satisfactory corporate surety shall provide security in an amount equal to 10% of the base bid. The surety shall name as payee or obligee the Muhlenberg School District. Bids may not be withdrawn for 60 days after they are opened and announced.
Successful bidders will be required to furnish and pay for 100% performance and payment bonds. The cost of these bonds shall be included in the bid amount. Attention is called to the fact that this project is subject to applicable provisions of the Pennsylvania Human Relations Act; the Pennsylvania Prevailing Wage Act; the Steel Products Procurement Act 3 of the 1978 General Assembly of the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania, as amended; 73 P.S. Section 1881-1887; and Act 161 of 1982 as amended and Act 141 of 1984 as amended and other applicable Acts.
All bids must be enclosed in an envelope marked “Sealed Bid – Muhlenberg High School Pool Starting Block Replacement” clearly identified on the envelope.
The Muhlenberg School District reserves the right to accept or reject any or all bids submitted, to waive any irregularities or technicalities in any bid, and to make awards in the best interest of the District.
